Iranian short flick ‘Runner’ has won an award at the Global University Film Awards (GUFA) in Hong Kong.

Iranian short flick ‘Runner’ has won an award at the Global University Film Awards (GUFA) in Hong Kong.

The film, directed by Seyyed-Payam Hosseini, grabbed the $10.000 award for the best film script at this year’s edition of the festival.

The 19-minute film narrates the story of a teenage boy named Hakim who lives in the suburbs.

Hakim’s father makes to run for wager money. He realizes the rules of the game have changed, only before the last match he should be attending.

The cast of the film includes Bakhtiyar Panjei, Farshid Gavili, Hassan Taraqqi, Ardeshir Khodadoust, Fereydoun Hamedi, Mardin Sheikhmoradi, Arian Moradian, and Zhovana Nasiri.

The film has already been shown at the Giffoni International Film Festival in Italy and the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

The GUFA “strives to encourage and recognize emerging filmmakers among university students, foster creative exchange among film students around the world, and build synergy between regional young talents and international creative industry.”

The 3rd edition of Global University Film Awards took place on November 2-4 while the winners were announced on November 15, 2022.
